Most landlords require 3 months down to move in (first months rent, last months rent & 1 month refundable deposit). Proof of income is also needed which can be your last 3 paychecks. If you are paid in cash or if have any other income you may provide taxes or bank statements.
You must also provide a credit report to prove that you do not have evictions or rental related collections. Income is the main deciding factor. Bad credit does not usually affect renting unless the collections are rental related/evictions.
